A New Species of Dinosaur Closely Related to the Tyrannosaurus Rex Recently Discovered in England

A team of archeologists in England recently discovered a species of theropod dinosaur and it is believed that the new species is a close relative to the Tyrannosaurus rex. The discovery was announced by the group of scientists, who claim that they have discovered a scarce set of bones.

The paleontologists analyzed the four bones from the University of Southampton, which were discovered on the Isle of Wight, located on the southern coast of primary England. The bones are part of the tail, the back, and the neck of a new dinosaur, which was named Vectaerovenator inopinatus.

The scientists believe that the dinosaur could have reached approximately 13 feet long throughout its adult life, and it inhabited the Earth during the Cretaceous period, more than 115 million years ago. It is probably part of the carnivorous group of dinosaurs, which are known to have used their back feet for walking instead of using the four of them.

Throughout their analysis of the four bones, the scientists discovered numerous large spaces filled with air, which made them conclude that Vectaerovenator inopinatus is part of the theropod category of dinosaurs. These air spaces, which are called air sacks, are an extension of the dinosaur’s lungs, helping them breathe, and bearing a striking resemblance to the structure of today’s birds.

The scientists have declared that their choice to state that their finding is a rare one is based on the fact that our historical evidence of the existence of theropod dinosaurs is quite small. According to them, the first time that these bones were seen was because of a family living in that region, which decided to donate their findings to their local dinosaur museum. All the fossils can be found at the Dinosaur Isle Museum at Sandown on the Isle of White.
