If you’re among those numerous people who thought that phones packed with physical keyboards are dead, then BlackBerry is ready to contradict you. Being more than two decades old, the Canadian brand will bring its own phone adapted to the highly-praised 5G technology.
BlackBerry has been licensed by a startup from Texas called OnwardMobility, which results in the plans of a brand new phone to arrive to the market in 2021. The gadget will possess both 5G connectivity and a physical QWERTY keyboard.
Enterprise customers targeted
There’s not much to find out yet about the upcoming phone, but we know that there’s a good chance for it to be destined towards enterprise customers.
Peter Franklin, the CEO of OnwardMobility, declared:

The BlackBerry products were once designed, manufactured, and marketed by the Chinese company TCL Communication and under the brand of BlackBerry Mobile. Going further, Indonesian company BB Merah Putih was next, followed by the Indian company Optiemus Infracom. The last one was supporting BlackBerry for the global, Indonesian, and South Asian markets.
There’s no wonder why BlackBerry’s next phone will be equipped with a physical keyboard. The Canadian brand is well known for the keyboards on most of its devices. Furthermore, BlackBerry was once among the most important phone vendors in the world, and it was specialized in secure communications and mobile productivity. It will be exciting to find out how a 5G phone equipped with a physical keyboard can resist in a world dominated by touchscreen devices.
