While a lot of astronomers are busy capturing images from thousands, millions, and even billions of light-years away, the truth is that there are plenty of amazing sights in our Solar System as well. For millennia, people had been wondering about our nearby planets – Mars, Venus, Saturn, or Jupiter had all been sparking the curiosity of mankind and therefore many relevant questions.
For this week, we should consider ourselves lucky to be able to witness some beautiful sights on the night sky. Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter will appear as close together as they had been for 20 years, just before sunrise.
It occurs during March 30-April 5, 2020
It will be totally worth it to wake up very early in the morning, before the Sun even rises. Furthermore, Venus will look as it’s getting in the middle of the “Seven Sisters” stars of the Pleiades star cluster. It will look amazing and will provide the chance for many people to take unforgettable pictures.
To see Mars very close to Saturn, you’ll just have to look to the southeastern sky before sunrise, on March 31. The average distance between the two planets is tremendous, 141.6 million miles, but they will look as if there’s almost no distance at all. Also, Jupiter will shine close to Mars and Saturn in the same night.
The Pleiades are already an amazing view
The Pleiades represent, probably, the most beautiful sight from the night sky since they have around 100 young blue stars. Venus shining in their proximity will be visible immediately after sunset.
Admiring neighboring planets is cool, but there’s only one planet in the Universe that we should never take our eyes from: our Earth. Being thankful for it and taking good care of it should be our top priority. We’re not doing it only for us, but also for the upcoming generations.
