The wonders of space never chase to amaze us! A discovery made by scientists is bringing us close to the popular idea that alien life could exist in space, or even near us. This theory could have a base if the planets near us have the same characteristics as our own. Thanks to a new star from near Earth, a new world was discovered. The scientists are studying it now and trying to understand more about how it can exist in the Milky Way Galaxy.
We are talking about the latest discovery from our space neighborhood; a planet called GJ 1252 b. The world is orbiting a bright star, a perfect bright star for study and analyzes. The task of studying the stars is not that easy. Most of the time, the planet is moving in front of the star, and its brightness is hard to study. This is the most common problem that scientists are dealing with when they have to study small exoplanets.
Scientists Discovered New Earth-Like Exoplanets Near Us
Besides this, until the scientists are spotting a star, the task is often hard and long. And when they do find something, most of the stars are not shining enough. Now, the scientists have a happy case to resolve, because the GJ 1252 b is at 66 light-years away from Earth. The planet was found with the help of Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite or short for TESS.
Moreover, the team of scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, is behind the discovery of the GJ 1252 b. With the TESS that is hunting the planets that are not in our Solar System, they could analyze in detail the development. Finally, by using TESS, they will find the size, the density, and the mass of the new Earth-like exoplanets. In this way, scientists will show if the discovery is about a new world or not.
