The ‘Watch Together’ Facebook Feature Launches

Watching a video with your friends becomes more virtual than ever along with Facebook’s new ‘Watch Together’ feature. It doesn’t matter now if whole countries are separating you and your buddies- you’ll still be able to watch videos together.

The new feature of the world’s leading social network allows up to eight people to watch videos together within a video call from Facebook Messenger. Those using Messenger Rooms are even luckier, as they can be up to 50 people watching the same video together.

FREE for Android and iOS

Facebook announced the launch of the ‘Watch Together’ feature on September 14, and we can hope that it will be made available for other platforms besides Android and iOS.

Nora Micheva, who is a product manager at Facebook, declared:

We created Watch Together to make spending quality time with friends and loved ones feel as close to an in-person experience as possible,

While nothing can replace being in the same room with the people you love, Watch Together comes pretty close.

The procedure of taking advantage of the feature is as simple as it can be: all the user has to do is to either start a video call on Messenger with someone or create a Messenger Room and then “swipe up to access the menu and select Watch Together,”

Within a blog post, Facebook states:

We’re announcing Watch Together so you can enjoy Facebook Watch videos with your friends and family and see their reactions in real-time over Messenger video calls and Messenger Rooms,

The world’s most popular social network currently counts a staggering amount of 2.6 billion monthly active users, and there’s no sign that the number will go down anytime soon. Just in case you’ve needed another reason to practice social distancing, Facebook arrives once again to lend a helping hand.
