Next-generation consoles obviously have to offer next-generation technology for games. Rockstar learned this lesson fast, as it’s preparing a major upgrade for GTA V in order to make the game take full advantage of the advanced hardware present on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Another popular game is expected to follow the same recipe, and we’re talking about the fantasy action role-playing title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The development company CD Projekt Red itself made the announcement today, saying that a new update of the game will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Visual and technical improvements
This is what the players of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will get along with the new update. It applies to the base game, as well as to both of the expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

Steam speaks very realistically about The Witcher 3:
The Witcher: Wild Hunt is a story-driven open world RPG set in a visually stunning fantasy universe full of meaningful choices and impactful consequences. In The Witcher, you play as professional monster hunter Geralt of Rivia tasked with finding a child of prophecy in a vast open world rich with merchant cities, pirate islands, dangerous mountain passes, and forgotten caverns to explore.
The system requirements for The Witcher 3 are also pretty decent, at least for the minimum ones:
- Operating System: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1) or 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor: Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz / AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940
- RAM: 6 GB
- Graphics card: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660 / AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870
- Storage: 35 GB available space
Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles become available to the market in November, and they’ll be featuring highly advanced hardware specs compared to the ones for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Both next-generation consoles will be featuring video resolution up to 8K.
