Henry Cavill has managed to win our hearts by playing the role of the monster hunter in the Netflix hit series The Witcher. The series was released back in 2019, and it has met success instantly. The feedback was positive from both critics and the audience, and the ratings for this one are high. The series is based on the book with the same name, written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The creator of the series is Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
It has been a while since we’ve seen the first season on Netflix, and now we want to know when we’re going to get a second one. Here is all we know so far.
What about production?
Netflix had ordered a second season even before the first one was released. The shooting for the second season was supposed to start in early 2020, but they put it on hold due to the new coronavirus outbreak. But this was not the only project put on hold due to safety reasons.
But there is also good news. Netflix has given permission to start the shooting of season 2, so the production will begin again on August 17, 2020.
So when is the release date?
As of now, we have no official release date from Netflix. We might have to wait a bit because the production has been delayed. The second season will probably not be released this year. It will probably be released in late 2021.
What about the cast?
The new season will come with both new and old cast members. We haveHenry Cavill as Geralt, Freya Allan as Cirilla, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel, Mecia Simson as Francesca, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Yasen Atour as Coen.
