The Witcher will soon be back with a brand new season, and we cannot wait for it to be released. Back in November last year, the show was renewed for a new season. However, because of the pandemic, the season has to deal with a lot of delays.
Fans started to think about the fact that there are many similarities between Game of Thrones and The Witcher. Here is all we know so far about season 2.
So when is the release date?
As of now, there is no official information about the release date for the second season. Lauren S Hissrich stated that season 2 would be released in 2021. But we do not have a clear date.
We also learned something about it from Platige Image, that’s dealing with special effects. They said we’d get season 2 in July 2021. When they worked on the first season, the premiere of the show was after a month. Some say that we’re getting it by the end of 2021. As of now, we need to wait for the confirmation. The work on the series was resumed on the 17th of August, 2020.
What about the plot?
Season 1 came with an anthology where there were many different places, and the timeline was, of course, nonlinear. The timeline for season 2 will probably be similar to the one from the first season – nonlinear. Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will also be part of the new season, but the plot will be much simpler.
It seems that season 2 will start with a lot of flashback scenes from season 1. Ciri will have a bigger role in this season if we are to compare it to the second book. We have also learned that the new season will be from the Blood of Elves.
Ciri will get the importance of a magical Royal, and it will have the elven Heritage. Her relationship with Gerald will be an important plot of the story. One of the most important locations in The Witcher 2 will be Kaer Morhen.
