Facebook continues to improve WhatsApp, and there’s no wonder why considering that the world’s leading instant messaging app recently gathered 2 billion users. The app will soon enough get fused with Instagram and Facebook Messenger, resulting in a bigger app.

WhatsApp just released the new beta update 2.20.200.6 for those who access the platform from Android devices. The app now allows better control of the user for the chat background wallpaper.

Modify opacity or enable/disable doodles

WABetaInfo reveals that the highlights of the new update are the options to modify the opacity for chat wallpaper and adding or removing the chat wallpaper doodles on the background. This means that a stable release containing the new options should arrive in any moment.

The ‘Wallpaper Dimming’ feature from WhatsApp appears at the bottom of the chat wallpaper editing screen. Users are able to select the intensity or opacity for the background wallpaper with a slider interface.

We can expect even other new features to arrive for WhatsApp in the near future, and at least this part of the description from Google Play Store could always be available:

“• NO FEES: WhatsApp uses your phone’s Internet connection (4G/3G/2G/EDGE or Wi-Fi, as available) to let you message and call friends and family, so you don’t have to pay for every message or call.* There are no subscription fees to use WhatsApp.”

The description also says:

“• FREE CALLS: Call your friends and family for free with WhatsApp Calling, even if they’re in another country.* WhatsApp calls use your phone’s Internet connection rather than your cellular plan’s voice minutes. (Note: Data charges may apply. Contact your provider for details. Also, you can’t access 911 and other emergency service numbers through WhatsApp).”

WhatsApp is currently available for Android, iOS, and as a desktop version.
