Xiaomi Prepares Mass-Production of Smartphones Equipped with Invisible Front Cameras

In some ways, that age-old notch that sometimes takes way too much space from our phones’ display is like COVID-19: we all want it to disappear for good. That notch is like an uninvited guest at a party who knows how to organize the audio gear: we don’t want him there, but we are craving for what he can do.

Xiaomi, a Chinese brand that builds high-quality smartphones and one that has grown tremendously in recent years, promises to solve the problem once and for all by bringing under-display front cameras for its future gadgets.

On Mi’s blog, we find the following statement that leaves no room for interpretation:

Beijing, CHINA, August 28 – Xiaomi announced that it will officially kick-start mass production of smartphones equipped with the 3rd Generation Under-Display Camera next year. This marks Xiaomi’s latest strategic step towards the high-end smartphone segment bolstered by the company’s continuous technological innovation.

There you have it, crystal clear: in 2021, smartphones equipped with that annoying notch that we all know will become obsolete thanks to one of the most successful phone manufacturers in the present. Xiaomi announced that its Redmi brand had sold more than 110 million gadgets worldwide since its launch till the fourth quarter of 2019.
